A Rainy Instow Beach photo

A Rainy Instow Beach

Photography on a North Devon beach can be fun even on a not so nice day. I’m quite a fan of dynamic cloud especially when the photo is not a nice glossy sunset. (I do still like dynamic clouds even then though.) A beach like Instow can be represented in many ways depending on the light, the weather and the angle. I think that’s why I like it so much.

I like how in this photo Instow looks vast as the beach disappears into the rain on the horizon. It’s a shame I couldn’t get a better contrast in the sky, but an ND graduated filter is not the sort of thing that you expect to need when it’s cloudy and raining. I like the contrast of the boat but feel it doesn’t prevent the eye browsing the rest of the photograph.
