I often try to follow local photographer’s work, sometimes I think it is to gauge myself and other times it is for inspiration. A couple of photos that inspired me recently were by Rob Kendall and Tim Barker. They posted photos of an old slipway that I didn’t know existed. I have often yearned for strong structures to contrast against a dynamic coast, although I now want stronger neutral density filters. I found myself scouring Google maps, looking for the structure that until now had eluded me. I found one but it faces the wrong way, so I spent ages scouring the west facing coastline until I found it.
The tide was right at its peak once I got there and sadly the water was pretty calm so I just did my best with what I had. I will definitely visit the spot again to try to improve my shots. I followed the tide as it ebbed while trying different compositions until the light faded. I got a few shots that are OK and I even got my feet wet as a bonus from a rogue wave!

Really wonderful work on the colors here, they really add a great mood to the image.
